You are a young girl sent on a rescue mission by your tribe. You must enter the sacred grotto where you found the last traces of your missing uncle. What will you discover inside this mysterious cave? And will you make it out alive?

The light within us is the final project of our first year, and the first real complete video game I created, with a 10 person team. It was made in three months, by 5 game designers and 5 artists, all first year students at Bellecour Ecole. It was, of course, very experimental for all participants, but I was mostly in charge of level design, storytelling and sound design. I also worked on implementation and playtesting.

This project reflects pretty spectacularly the road still ahead, of course, but also show a few recurring themes in my work, namely the fantasy setting, the non white cis male protagonist, and the strong narrative drive. The light within us was an valuable lesson in all aspects of game design, but it was also my first taste in multitasking and management. It quickly put me on the road towards world building, which would become one on my main asset during the rest of the Bachelor.

Everything was made in Unity for the game design side, and it was also the start of a very fruitful cooperation with the artists of our school!
