Undeify is an interactive fiction with an important puzzle aspect in VR targeted for psychological horror enthusiasts looking for a new thrilling experience. This solo game promises a complete immersion in a dark, stressful atmosphere with a realistic setting, tense music and confined environment. All interactions are meant to be simple, instinctive, almost driven by impulse as the pressing scenario unfolds.

This project was made in 3 month by 5 game design student, during our Bachelor’s second year . I made all the narrative work, as well as most of the sound and environnement design, and some minor task in other disciplines (scripting, …). Although the final build was not complete, I learned a lot about teamwork, project management and I also worked with a professional voice actress.

Undeify was an important step in my studies, because it highlighted some key things about my strengths and my weaknesses. It was the first sign that I needed to work on my communication skills and showing more initiative in embracing leadership / mentoring roles. Fortunately, a few years after my school, I had the privilege to work in a fantastic team at Cegid’s customer service, where I had the opportunity to improve on those aspects!

It also brought me closer to writing, something I’m still working on in my personal time. I keep believing in versatility for game designers, but I can’t deny that world building and narrative design is something that really resonated with me, especially during this project.

It should also be noted that this was my first big Unreal game, and my first taste of Virtual Reality! Both full of possibilities and with a bright future ahead of them, it was an amazing experience and I would absolutely do it again if the opportunity presents itself.
